Self-Transfer Flights
WingIQ helps you find cheaper flight routes by combining separate flight bookings. These are called "self-transfer" or "self-connect" flights. When you book a stopover flight through our service:
YOU are responsible for making your own connections. This is NOT a traditional connecting flight with airline protection.
Your Responsibilities
Collecting Baggage
You must collect your checked baggage after the first flight and re-check it for the second flight.
Going Through Security
You will need to go through security screening again for your connecting flight.
Connection Time
Allow sufficient time between flights (recommended minimum: 3–4 hours domestic, 4–6 hours international).
Separate Bookings
Each flight leg is a separate booking. You must check in separately for each flight.
Visa Requirements
Ensure you have the necessary visas for your stopover country, even if you are just transiting.
What We Do NOT Provide
Missed Connection Protection
If you miss your second flight due to delays on the first, we cannot help rebook you.
Baggage Transfer
We do not arrange baggage transfer between flights. You must collect and re-check all luggage yourself.
Refunds for Missed Connections
If you miss your connection, both airlines' standard cancellation policies apply separately.
Customer Support During Travel
WingIQ is a search tool only. We do not provide customer support during your journey.
Our Recommendation
Purchase travel insurance that covers missed connections and trip interruptions. Always allow generous connection times. Consider the total travel time and stress level, not just the price savings.
